About Us
‘Rugs
by Rohit’ is a trademark used for the high-end
designer rugs made by Kapoor Carpets, Jaipur.
The firm has been in existence since 1974 and
committed four generations to producing the most
exclusive hand-knotted rugs coming out of India.
The firm is owned by two primary partners, one
of whom is also the principal designer. The
design team consists of 40 artists who work
under the astute guidance of the principal
designer to create select designs that are
widely recognized as being the best in the
country. We design and produce each rug
believing that it will be the centerpiece of the
space that it inhabits……...and it is.
We are very proud and possessive about the
designs and color palettes that we create. All
of our designs are copyrighted in India and the
United States.
We put in a lot of time, effort and energy into
research and development. Our organization is
constantly experimenting with different design
elements, color palettes and textures to
consistently offer something new to our clients.
In order to make sure that each rug is an
accurate representation of the designer’s
vision, every step of the rug making process,
from spinning and dying of the wool to washing
and clipping of the rug, is performed in-house.
Most of these processes have secret constituents
that have been passed on from one generation of
craftsmen to another. We employ 1,200 such
craftsmen who work under the supervision of
master craftsmen to ensure that every rug that
we produce is a master piece in the making. Each
creation is the culmination of the creativity of
the designer, the diligence of the graphing
artists and the craftsmanship of the artisans.
God’s Eye: The rugs that we produce have the
symbol of an eye woven on the right hand corner
of the rug. This symbol is customarily woven in
by the weaver after the rug has been washed and
clipped. It is the belief of the weavers that
this eye symbol will ward off evil and bring
good health and prosperity to the eventual owner
of the rug.
May our rugs bring color and joy to the homes
that they inhabit.
